Our 2009 Festival will run from 10th June to 22nd July 2009 and will include:
Carmen sung in French with English surtitles Bizet Conductor Jeremy Silver Director Alan Privett Carmen is the celebrated tale of a wild gypsy girl who inspires obsessive and destructive passion in her lover, Don José. The music is full of enduring melodies influenced by the rhythms and harmonies of Spanish music. This is a freshly-staged revival of our 2006 production.

The Marriage of Figaro sung in Italian with English surtitles Mozart Conductor Gianluca Marcianò Director Jenny Miller A new LFO production of this comic masterpiece. this witty and charming story of disguise, deception, romance and flirtation has been described as the perfect opera. Sat 20, Tue 23 Jun, Fri 10 and Sat 11 July at 18.30 Sunday 21 Jun at 15.00
A Midsummer Night’s Dream Britten Conductor Jonathan Lyness Director Richard Studer Using the words of Shakespeare’s play Britten created one of his most accessible scores. Oberon, Tytania and the fairies are at the heart of this piece and the atmospheric music makes this a perfect opera for a midsummer evening. A new LFO production. Young Artists Production La Bohème sung in English Puccini Conductor Robert Dean Director Maria Jagusz Starring singers at the beginning of their professional careers, supported by a professional orchestra, this is a new LFO production of the much-loved opera about the struggles of young artists to live and love in Paris. Sat 18, Tue 21 and Wed 22 July at 18.30
