This great tragic-comic opera, full of drama and action as well as the most tender and beautiful music has long been a favourite with audiences, not least because of the compelling figure of Giovanni himself.
This is the second part of Longborough’s Mozart/Da Ponte project which began last season with Figaro and will include several members of last year’s young cast.

Cio-cio San, the Butterfly of the title falls passionately in love with Lt Pinkerton of the US navy, with tragic consquences.
Jonathan Lyness and Richard Studer, the artistic team responsible for this production have successfully produced Eugene Onegin, The Cunning Little Vixen and A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Longborough Festival Opera over the past three seasons.

Die Walküre sung in German with English surtitles Richard Wagner 24,27,31 July 2010
Longborough Festival Opera continues its full Ring Cycle with a new production of Die Walküre. Jason Howard will sing the role of Wotan and Alwyn Mellor makes her debut as Longborough’s Brünnhilde. The company includes Andrew Rees (Siegmund), Lee Bisset (Sieglinde), Alison Kettlewell (Fricka) and Mark Richardson (Hunding).
