“And will some Wagnerian moneybags please proffer a pot of Rheingold so that the Valkyries can swoop on the Cotswolds? Richard Morrison, The Times
Following our hugely successful production of Das Rheingold in the summer of 2007, we decided to set up the Pot of Gold Fund to raise the money needed to stage the rest of Wagner’s renowned full Ring cycle. We will then become the first privately owned opera house in the western world to achieve this.
We anticipate that to stage Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung over the next few years (and to revive Das Rheingold in 2008) will cost just over a million pounds. We hope to raise half of this through private donations, sponsorship and grants from trusts and foundations. To date, and thanks mainly to the especially kind donations of our audience, we have raised nearly £10,000. But we still have a long way to go.
We need to find in total £500,000 of additional funding. We are busy in the development office working on sponsorship proposals, sourcing inclined individuals and also looking at potential grants from trusts and foundations. But we would like more support. If you think you can help, whether through a donation, your own fund-raising effort or just suggesting an organisation we might approach, please contact us. Every gift, however large or small will be gratefully received, and will enable our dream to move even closer to reality.
